Description

Electric West African Small Kora/Ngoni Style Harp has the dimensions of: 34″ x 10.5″ x 11″. Ivory Coast Goat Skin is stretched and adhered to an opened thick shelled Gourd with Upholstery Tacks. The Stem is carved Mahogany. Ebony Viola Pegs are set in precisian tapered holes that match the taper of the Pegs. A little “peg dope” is added where the Peg is connected to the Stem facilitating friction helpful helpful in the tuning mechanism. If the Peg has been turned and pushed to the point it’s become locked, gentle knocking using a rubber mallet against a block of wood on the small end of the Peg will loosen the Peg so tuning can be reestablished. Turning the Peg clockwise while pushing into the Peg Hole tightens the string; opposite action to loosen. Thus fine tuning can be achieved. The Strings are musical nylon and physical is minimal so once tuning is established and much playing occurs occurs the tuning remains intact. The Bridge is Basswood and the Handles are Purple Heart Wood. I have the 10 Strings tuned to B minor Pentatonic but the tuning scale can be changed. The Internally Mounted Electric Pickup ia a Big Shot Piezo Crystal Transducer. The sound is really good on or off an amplifier. There will be a Sound Sample video for this Harp available very soon which I’ll announce. As of 7/27/2024 this Sound Sample video is now available to view on YouTube channel: ‘Gregory Trimble’. Connect to a good speaker or headphones to hear a realistic sound!
